Forests and the Moon

This is the online exhibition to show you a series of my paintings that captured beauty of silence and lonely feelings in the forest.

What do I do in the forest?
What I expect to experience in the forest are neither huge parties with loud music nor excitement.
I stand in the forest to hear silence and feel subtle movement of nature. Afterwards a while of standing and listening to nature, I start hearing elements of forests speaking such as friction of leaves, songs of birds, float of water. They become loud in my head as they are getting mixed with my thoughts. Next moment, I create colours and shape of trees and the moon in my mind, later on it becomes my paintings.

Why the moon is important?
The moon shines in the night with subtle reflection. That icon is accompany me in the lonely nights walking in the dark. When you look up the sky, the moon is always there no matter where you are. Once you leave your home, your family and friends are invisible, but the moon shows its face and casts us the lights.
This gives me confidence and positive energy in the night.

Initially, I always put the moon in the sky to express the loneliness and the comfort.
Then, I started developing the idea that minimize distractions in the scene so that the paintings would not speak to viewers loud.
I wanted to create something that you can feel the silence and smell of forests and mix them with your thoughts in your mind.

As I try to minimize the impact of concrete figures in those scenes, I ended up avoiding to paint the moon in the sky. However, by leaving a hint of slight colours of the moon in the sky, you may feel existence of the moon with subtle comfort.

The paintings shown below is starting from older ones so you see the moon. As you scroll lower, the newer works will appear and you see the difference.
